A Very Personal Loss

Loss can be a painful thing,
Something that I had known all my life,
A painfully sore reminder,
That things don’t always turn out for the best.

Together for many years.
Sailing the seas of my life,
Sensing through intimate moments,
We’d be together until the end.

Alas my friend was unwell,
Infection, a terrible curse,
Medication producing too much glucose,
For bacteria a potent stew.

Sometimes I’d see a rally,
Then I’d see a fall into relapse,
The doctors did what they could,
Until all that was left was the knife.

Sadly, at last, it’s over,
My best friend separated from life,
But performing one last favour,
In passing, the infection died too.

Time to experience life with scars anew,
Different sensations without you,
Intimacy brings a reminder,
The feeling of security you used to bring.

Adult Circumcision is a Bitch!
A dark, poetic, emotionally poignant editorial illustration: a solitary man standing before a fork in the road at dusk, seen from a cinematic three-quarter view. Two clear wooden road signs point in opposite directions: one reads exactly "With Me" and the other reads exactly "Without Me". Above the man's head is a clearly legible thought cloud containing exactly the text: "I'll alway remember being together". Moody gothic atmosphere, muted charcoal, slate blue, and faded sepia palette, dramatic low light, subtle mist, tasteful composition, readable typography, no extra words, no logos, no watermark.
