Be Free My Love

The widow shakes with grief again,
She finds this within his coat,
She knows his hand, swallows hard,
Sobbing, she reads his final note.

“Should your safety cost my life,
My gift to you, I won’t think twice,
You’re my world, my sky my sea,
Willing was my sacrifice.

I gave my life without thought,
A choice that was freely made,
For wife, for child, grandchildren too,
With love I sought this trade.

Sorrow fades with passing time,
Your road to happiness starts now,
I’ll not spoil a chance for joy,
I release your wedding vow.

Live your life for you, not I,
As I rest ‘neath a ghostly tree,
Contentment is now mine,
For I know you once loved me.”
Edit the existing photorealistic scene of a sobbing widow dressed in black lace, sitting and reading a note. Keep the widow, her pose, clothing, expression, room, and all other details unchanged. Change only the black drape on the framed portrait of her late husband: place the drape across the top of the picture frame, with the fabric hanging down naturally along both sides of the frame. The portrait remains visible in the center. Tasteful, realistic mourning scene.
