Life in the Fast Lane

I think of the days,
When I was quite slim,
10 miles before breakfast,
Then go to the gym,

Those days are behind me,
I've had to retire,
No longer capable,
Health did expire,

Now when I say health,
We all know the truth,
I simply got old,
I outlived my youth,

I am not angry,
Nor even bitter,
The call of my family,
Did strongly glitter,

It's twenty-five years,
Since I last marched in line,
Been even longer,
Since I last looked so fine,

Time spent learning,
And time spent in training,
No matter what,
It was always raining,

Those Memories are bright,
Like diamonds they shine,
The good and the bad,
No reason to whine,

We walked with giants,
Now retired to our farms,
As we lose one by one,
Our brothers in arms.
A majestic eagle soaring through a dramatic cloudy sky, powerful wings fully extended, atmospheric light breaking through storm clouds, cinematic and poetic mood, realistic fine-art photography style, no text
