A gnomic and worn-out old trope,
All very fine if you have twine,
And not at the end of your rope.
And if wishes were fine horses,
Then most beggars would surely ride,
Not having wished for a saddle,
Then the fall comes after their pride.

Advice that's meant to be kind,
When you see how far you might fall,
Will often make you change your mind.
