We went for drive,
In our new car,
It’s not very fast,
We didn’t go far,
Over the hill,
Around the bend,
Wind in our hair,
On to Land’s End,
The road it ends,
There’s only sea,
We stop for a look,
My beloved and me,
We take a few photos,
Take in the sights,
Stop for a meal,
Stay for a night,
Next day it rains,
Don’t really care,
Put up a brolly,
Grab a deckchair,
We look at the waves,
We enjoy the sound,
The patter of rain,
That hits the ground,
Now comes dinner time,
Our bellies need grub,
Brush off the sand,
Then down the pub,
The landlord is happy,
So full of cheer,
Wife has a cocktail,
And I have a beer,
We have a small meal,
The choice is small,
We choose tasty pasties,
Since this is Cornwall,
We’re set to go home,
We plan our return,
This place was lovely,
But for grandkids we yearn,
The boys rush to us,
They’re glad we’re back,
They hope for some gifts,
And search in my pack,
Grandad was ready,
Grandma as well,
Coloured fridge magnets,
For each some seashells,
The Lads don’t mind,
Whatever we brought,
They know we love them,
They’re glad for the thought,
Our car’s in the garage,
Keys on the hook,
We have a light dinner,
We both read a book,
We’re very tired,
We both are beat,
Our eyes are heavy,
We admit defeat,
Off up to bed,
Our haven of rest,
Travels are lovely,
But this place is best.
