We safely play and freely tread,
Those fields where our forebearers bled,
They fought and died as if for naught,
And unbeknown our freedom bought,
From whence they came of no import,
They heard the call, as one they fought,
Side by side they gave their all,
They charged towards the battles call,
When all was done they stood and stared,
They sought their friends, they hoped, they dared,
To think that war would never more,
Ruin lives of both rich and poor,
They hoped and prayed that never again,
This sacrifice would be asked of men,
And we who remain safe in our beds,
Should remember and bow our heads,
Remember the fine men who gave,
Their lives as they went to the grave,
We pray they find their peace and rest,
And we remember them at their best
